Madalyn Parnas

Madalyn Parnas

Madalyn Parnas, 16, began musical studies early in piano, voice, and violin winning top prizes in all three. Upon becoming the youngest to win 1st prize in Berkshire Music School’s Merit Competition at age ten, she established herself as a violinist and made her orchestral debut two years later playing the Kabalevsky Violin Concerto. Immediately following this success her solo performance in Boston’s Jordan Hall for the NPR radio show “From the Top” led to a recording and feature in the magazine “Music Alive!”. Since then Madalyn has performed numerous concerti with orchestra and proven herself on the concert stage to be a compelling performer and young artist.

Upcoming 2007-2008 solo performances include Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole, Mozart’s Concerto in G Major, Saint-Saens’ Violin Concerto #3, and two double concerti with sister cellist Cicely Parnas. The Parnas Duo share a love of chamber music and perform at the highest caliber, reminding audiences they are granddaughters of the great cellist Leslie Parnas . Standing ovations at the historic Troy Music Hall greeted their most recent performance, the world premier of “String Trio in Eb” by Louis Lohraseb and Arensky’s Piano Trio No. 1. “Remember the name Madalyn Parnas! Surely, [she] is destined for a long and successful career on the concert stage,” proclaimed a reviewer following her debut appearance at the Grand Montgomery Chamber Series. Miss Parnas has taken numerous top prizes in competition and is a Carondelet Scholar at the College of St. Rose, signifying the highest academic achievement and carrying a full scholarship. Madalyn studies with world-renowned violinist James Buswell and legendary pianist Peter Serkin.
